Limits of Yellowtail in Asuncion!!! Who da thought!
Even though it's late for a big yellowtail bite....it's ON! The water temps are still high but any day now, that cold current will arrive bringing
wind & cold and the end of our fishing season.
Today Juan and his fishing partners limited out quick and easy with nice 15-25 lb fish a few minutes from home...gotta love that!
After my 2 months at our base camp in Laguna Ojo de Liebre, it's good to be home eating fresh sashimi again!!!

Yellowtail seem to be going off everywhere - the local San Diego boats are getting them and a good bite is happening in BoLA as well - life is good!

Could you provide more details about the BOA bite? We will be down there in two weeks, and would like to hopefully join in on the fun. Yellowtail at
this time of year is early/very unusual.

Yellowtail are pretty much there year-round and at the usual deep reefs - Igor Galvin is one of the best panga guys. If you're in your own boat
you'll need to know the the reefs to fish - fish are around 150 to 200+ feet. Do an internet search and you'll come up with the spots.
Send me a U2U with your email and I'll send you a map of some of the better spots.

Hi Shari. Haven't fished your area but trust me, after reading your posts it is on the "A" list. So here is a dumb question. It is now spring and
water temps traditionally will start to rise with warmer weather... I would think that is somewhat true throughout Baja. So why are the water temps
now going to get colder where you are?

Well Red...it is in fact the opposite in this area of the coast. We have warm water throughout the winter here which helps make our winter air temps
very pleasant and mild....and a cold current arrives the end of March which cools the water temps down to the 50's to bring us "winter" like
conditions...lots of wind & cooler air temps in April/May. While the air temps warm up in June, the water temps remain low which is why we have
beautiful cooler air temps than most of baja from June-mid August which is when the warm current returns and fishing cranks up again.
The water was around 72 degrees this past month...lovely for swimming all winter. Most people think it would be cold on the Pacside in the winter but
it is actually warmer than Mulege & Loreto here and of course cooler in those scorching hot months...which is why we love this year round pleasant
climate here.
