Mulege or Bahia Concepcion?

Hey Nomads... Been in Baja CA for 7 days now and am having a blast. First trip here since 2008.

Now I'm in Baja CA Sur (Guerro Negro) and would like to check out Mulege get or Bahia Concepcion. Can anyone recommend a campo with the basics for car/tent camping and beach access for kayaking? Thanks!

gringorio, you can find good camping at any of the roadside beaches of Conception Bay...including Santispac, Escondido, Cocos, Burros, Coyote, Playa Buenaventura, Requeson, and so on..

Kayaks are still being rented by various Mulege business, but also at Burros Beach, I believe. Russ used to rent them from Ana's Café at Santispac, but he has relocated now in Mulege. You should have no trouble with either a camp spot or a kayak rental.

p.s. Burros Beach might be your best bet, as it has 2 cafes (some basic groceries) within easy walking distance, plus the kayak rental. And as Marc stated, Santispac might be okay, too, if the kayaks are still there.

Good luck and have fun. Remember to do the Sting Ray Shuffle!

beware that semana santa starts next week and it will be total chaos....i would consider camping at santa inez beach just a few miles north of mulege....it's beautiful, isolated, free, convenient..did i say beautiful?....it's our very very favorite beach in all of baja...and there won't be a single person there so you'll have it all to yourselves...you'll need to bring supplies as there are no services there but it's well worth it...just ask anyone in mulege and they'll give you directions....stay off the road starting around the 12th!

Gringo,
beaches are almost totaly empty this week. more whale sharks at coyote than tourtias!
come on down, the water is fine.

negro coyote,
there are damn few trails going weste from Bahia de conception. Not sure what kinda route u r seeking. Weste of Mulege is some of the tuffest caminos la tierra anywhere. If you are here next week hit me and we can chat.

Stop by at Juan Carlos' taco stand on the right side (mountain side) of the highway across from Burro Beach. Painted sign on surfboard says: "FISH TACOS". Have some almejas gratinadas. Outstanding!!
The 'circus' begins on the Concepcion playas about Thursday or so. Be gone or get stuck!!
