UPDATE ~ PUNTA CHIVATO DORADO TOURNEY

5/20/ 2014
The following is a release for the HAPC Punta Chivato Bulls Only Dorado Tournament, June 20,21,22, 2014.
BIG BUCKS FOR BIG BULLS!
Here we go for the 18th annual tournament in Punta Chivato! Cash prizes, which were so popular last year, will again be awarded.
$1,000.00, first prize, $500.00 second prize and $250.00 third prize, as well as beautiful hand- made Ibarra plates. These plates are a tradition and some people have a small collection! Come on out and try to win one of these special one-of –a-kind awards!
Thanking our sponsors is something we always like to do as much as possible. This year, we extend our special thanks to: US Battery, BajaBound Insurance, Kinae (Rick Coulter), Joe DiOrio of Punta Chivato Boat Storage, Gene Layton of Bonded Roofing , Art Oberto of Oh Boy! Oberto, Tecate Beer and El Hotelito. You make it all happen.

The dorado are here and some 15# + fish have been caught (and probably eaten!). Lots of big roosters, a marlin and other traditional catches are finding their way to fishing lines put out by our enthusiastic anglers!
Again, our schedule is as follows:
Friday, June 20, Registration and Captain’s dinner at the Community Center, 5 p.m. The Calcutta will also be that night as well as chances to buy raffle tickets for some great gift items. Door prizes are always happening. This year some terrific HAPC items will also be for sale.
DON’T WORRY.THIS YEAR WE HAVE MADE IT EASY TO BUY YOUR FISHING LICENSE AT THE CAPTAINS DINNER. FISHERMEN MUST HAVE ONE.
Saturday, June 21, FISHING! Lines in at 8, out at 3 p.m.
Hawaiian Luau, Baja Style, at the Hotel Hacienda, 7 p.m. $25.00. A percentage will be donated to HAPC. This is a fabulous dinner in a beautiful location to round off a great day on the water. Contact Ken at elhotelitopuntachivato@hotmail.com for reservations. Tickets will be available at the Captains dinner and at the Luau.
Sunday, 9 – 12 the Hacienda Hotel will be offering a terrific brunch, 150 pesos, all you can eat! Lots of selections. Email Ken or get tickets at the Captains dinner at the Community Center.
June 22, 6 p.m. will be the Awards dinner, Calcutta auction winners, raffle winners and the lucky tournament winners. WOW!!!
Fishing updates: Lots of BIG roosters have been caught. Mark Fodor weighed one in at 44#! Al Lampe caught a marlin and others have been spotted, but are waiting for something especially good to eat! Quite a few dorado in the 15#+ category, and things are looking really good for the tournament event. We’re sending messages back with the smaller dorado to go back and pig out on those flying fish!
During the tournament, we will have Tecate beer for sale, case price, at the Community Center. We support our sponsors and this is one way we show it!
Look for our next announcement and updates!
