Hurricane impacts in Baja Sur?
Anything happening regarding Hur. Cristina in terms of Baja Sur?
Any Baja sur impacts expected in coming week?
(I checked the post regarding it getting stronger, want advice from locals regarding: how to plan for trip to Cabo Pulmo region..- any precautions
during strong hurricanes?)

This time of year the first thing I do every morning is to check the weather.
There is absolutely no reason for you to be here if a hurricane is coming...period.
Like Shari said, we start preparing now in hopes that our preparations are unnecessary, but a hurricane is serious business and you do not want to get
caught in one.
Just keep your eyes on the weather.
BTW I see no threat from Christina for BCS. Maybe some afternoon clouds and a swell. If you surf that could be a plus.
I forget when you are coming.

Being an El nino event this year, it isn't if, but when the ocean temps heat up just a leeeeeetle bit more and a storm can sustain fuel as it makes
the northeast sweep, so as said before, if I were a Baja resident, i'd stock up on fresh water and self-sustainable foods for at least 2 weeks-worth
NOW. Also have an evacuation plan in place with important belongings ready to relocate, especially if in low coastal areas or arroyos. My heart's
with you this summer, compadres. Buena suerte.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

One just needs to be aware that you may get stranded somewhere in the event of rain and plan accordingly. Prolly too early for one to hit but ya never
know. This forum is the best one to watch for up to date info.

my go to safety place if caught there in a hurricane is not my palapa roofed home, but the airport itself or the best western at los cabos....1 hr 15
min away from Pulmo.

It's highly unlikely for a hurricane to impact BCS this time of year, usually it's September or October before we have to worry about them.

I beg to differ as impacts of a hurricane can be devastating...like alot of RAIN!!!
and big swells will charm the surfos but can impact vacations if you have booked fishing or dive charters. Ferry crossings may be cancelled thus
causing gas shortages in BCS...so best to at least know things can go south.
While perhaps unlikely...stranger things have happened and this is one very strange year so far.

I appreciate the advice. As I left San Diego today heading south towards Cabo Pulmo, I wondered how crazy it is to drive towards a hurricane... tho it
is pretty far offshore...so far.
I've learned to watch these things closely after spending time with my sister in Florida. She has survived many hurricanes, including Andrew in '92,
and has the PTSD to prove it!
She has been insisting it's the west coast's turn to have a hurricane season.
I guess it's only fair... but can we export earthquakes to them?

The biggest issue with hurricanes in Baja seems to be the rain that falls in the mountains, which causes flash floods towards the sea, and washes out
roads. Detours are made very quickly (on the highway washouts). However, back country dirt roads may be long closed. The road between San Jose de
Magdalena and Ex-mission Guadalupe is still closed/ impassable since last summer's hurricane season.
