San Quintin fishing

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum but have been lurking for a while. I am planning to take my 86 year old father on a fishing trip to San Quintin in late July. I have fished there a couple of times in the past but it has been about 5 years. I don't want to put him in a panga and there are 4 of us. Does anyone have a suggestion for a charter that we can use? Any info from a recent visit would be great.I would like to keep the price around $300-400.

Thanks

In that price range use Tiburon Pangas - right next door to the Old Mill and the launch ramp. His wife Laura is a great cook and host and you guys will have a great time there at his place even after the fishing is over...

Kelly at K&M has a couple of new boats but it will run you closer to $600

Kelly charges about 600 these days for a ride on a Parker. Tiburon will take 4 on one his pangas all day for 320 and out to 25 miles for bigger game for 400, which is within the OP's stated budget.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know K&M is probably the best but may be out of the budget for me. I would prefer to not be in a panga for my dad's sake. Any ideas for someone with boat that may be a little more comfortable for him?

As you exit the bay the ride gets pretty rough and continues that way out to the island. May be too rough for an 86 year old.

You are probably going to chose between the Parkers of K & M and Juan and the pangas...Juan is a bit less than K & M and is a great great captain but in general, you better decide fast...the dates you are thinking of are prime time in SQ and these guys get booked...especially if the White Sea Bass or the Yellowfin bite gets going. 86 years old can be a deterrent but on the right boat all can be good! Dig deep and go with the better boat and have the trip of a lifetime for dad!
