ACV Logistics
Has anyone had any experience with ACV Logistics? I contracted them to bring a boat part and they were suppose to be here Sunday. They no showed and
I never got my part. I called them Monday morning and I could not get an answer out of them on what happened. First they told me that the truck
forgot to stop and then at lunch they told me the truck had broken down? They told me that a new truck was on the way and my part would be here at 6
pm.
Well, here I sit at 9 pm and still no part. The rep said that she would call me when it was here and I have never received a call. I sent her an
email explaining my frustration and asked her to also waive the measly $7 fee for delivery. I got a response back saying she was sorry the truck did
not make it tonight but that they could not waive the fee???
Has anyone else had any experience with them? Will I ever get my part??? Thanks in advance.

I've used them a lot, always done a good job for me. Have my stuff there by Thursday, The truck leaves on Friday and delivers my stuff to my door the
next Tuesday in the East Cape. There has been an occasional glitch but overall I've been very happy with their service. Sorry you had a bad
experience, hope you give them another chance.

My second shipment with them is scheduled to deliver to La Ribera tomorrow. First went just fine but I've learned they are not great communicators.
I've had to prod them to confirm my stuff made it to their warehouse and when they had shipped it. The stuff made it down in great shape so I forgive
most everything else.
ACV Logistics is a freight forwarding company that will deliver to your door in Baja. They have A warehouse in Otay Mesa. They charge 35% of the
commercial invoice of your goods. Not cheap but 20 doors and windows and 6 ac units made the trip safe and sound. So I' happy.

ACV Logistics is a good company...
but here is what I've learned living here...
you are a 12-13 hour drive from the border...
if you need something...go get it
never count on others if it's important
and
don't think it will just arrive

had very good experiences with them with remote deliveries set up months in advance. Last time I was disappointed as they charged me import tax on
large shipping charges on items shipped to them at the border for import. i questioned it and they said it was policy. Not sure i will use them again.

I use them quite often, most, not all of their drivers use cell phones and will call you if there is a delay. The delivery / drop off guy will also
call. (Ice house, tecate store across from pemex). Delivery is usually Sunday mornings, and are north bound thru Mulege on Wednesdays. Small items
sometimes get sub contracted out to less efficient truckers. ACV is top notch.

When we started building our house we set up an account with them. My neighbor was just finishing up his house and they already had a weekly stop at
his house so finding me wasn't an issue for them. We would buy stuff on line and use their address as our "ship to" address. Their charges are based
on the bottom line of the price of the item including any shipping etc. (as volcano mentioned). I believe that they are charged to bring it across
based on the same number.
If you are shipping something small and expensive it is a good deal for them but when it comes to large, heavy bulky inexpensive stuff you win. I had
a modular pizza oven shipped from the manufacturer to ACV, it was in a 4'x4'x4' crate and weighed 1200lbs. It wasn't all that expensive for something
so bulky and heavy so the delivery charge was a bargain. They delivered it to my door in a truck with a lift gate. It was so heavy that my guys had to
unload the box and carry the parts in piece by piece. I can't imagine how I would have gotten it down here otherwise.
Payment is easy once you have an account set up. I would write a check from my US checking account and give it to the driver on delivery.

Well,
They sent me a message last night that they could meet me at 12 am. I said no unfortunately because did not want to have to wake my younger son up
and take him with me to meet them. We set a time for 7:30 to meet and they said he would call me. No call yet at 0800 but I guess this is Mexico.
My package is a small envelope so I do not know if that affected this shipment. It was such a great deal and now a great way to get things I wanted
it to go smoothly. I am sure hoping it does get delivered this morning because my boat mechanic is going out of town tomorrow on vacation and I need
to get this part installed. We will see and thanks for all the responses. Makes me feel a little better!

i use them often with mixed results. my last shipment was 14 days arriving here in bcs after they signed for it in san diego. the driver called and
asked me to meet him at pemex, which i did,, too bad he failed to have my package on his load. i have sent several emails to the agent in SD, but she
has chosen to ignore the correspondence. i will try monica page next. anyone have experience with her outfit? http://www.monicapagelogistics.com/

I've used Lopez-Page satisfactorily for a huge load of goods. They worked with me well and gave me a lower, better percentage charge, too.
Google 'em for their contact info.
Edited to clarify that Lopez-Page Importers is in no way affiliated with Monica Page.
Another shipper/importer option is Estefeta which has an affiliate office stateside and various brick 'n mortar offices in Baja.

I personally am very happy with ACV, they meet my business and personal needs.
As far as Monica Page goes I will never use her ever again, 4 good reasons- imported about 38 prehung doors, they shipped them like a stack of cards,
over $2000 usd for repairs and they never reimbursed as promised.
Over billing for importation and failing to credit account.
Failing to provide a factura for almost $14kusd in materials, all paid for upfront.
A small transfer of about $3000-4000p was also mistakenly sent to their account, they were notified immediately and never returned the money.
And the best one is that she sometimes puts her personal friends items from shopping in San Diego on "rich gringos" shipments.

I'm glad your got your part- my experience with ACV has been quite good. During construction they delivered 20 ceiling fans from Home Depot in the US,
a 14 kw generator, a wine refrigerator from Costco, which they helped me return and then delivered the replacement. They also picked up a recliner in
the Costco in Ensenada and delivered it to my home in La Paz. A couple of times it's been late at night but they get there on the date promised.
I needed a large 30' Grady White shipped from Long Beach to La Paz. They picked it up on a low boy trailer, had a lead vehicle as required in CA, got
it through customs, where a tool box was lost, and they paid to have it replaced. They paid for local police in Ensenada, and Cuidad Constitution, to
have the electric wires raised over the road, and got it safely to the dock where it was lifted into the water.
They are super reliable and I think your experience is an anomaly.

Sounds like a good-enough company.....but more importantly, was the oven wood-fired or electric?
Do we need to wear a scarf when we come over for pizza?
Do we need to call ahead or just drop by?
Do you have thin crust ( the pizza, not you personally....) ? Do you have gluten-free/vegan/ organic / free trade ingredients?

Just to close the loop on my post -
ACV was supposed to deliver on Tuesday (7/15). No call to my contractor or email to me. On Wednesday there was no call or email until I bugged ACV via
email at the end of they day. At that time they told me they would call my contractor and deliver Thursday by mid day. They did make that delivery.
What's curious is that I built a pretty stout 4x4x4 shipping container because there were multiple items that I didn't want to get lost. When they
arrived at the job site they were just plastic wrapped on a very flimsy pallet. All the items were there and there was no damage.
To sum up
- chit communication
- late delivery
- Items arrived in less than stout packaging but without damage or missing pieces.
I really weight the last item at 90% with the other 2 at 5% each so I snivel quietly  but will still continue to use them.

Answers to your inquiry:
1) Electric?....are you serious?.....I said it was a PIZZA oven...bring mesquite.
2) No scarf needed, you will automatically have a natural scarfing response to the pizza
3) It takes 24hrs to make real pizza dough and a couple of hours to fire the oven and prepare the ingredients, a bit of notice is appreciated unless
you don't mind hanging around for a day or two.
4) No two crusts are alike, some you can read a newspaper through and others you can resole your boots with, you takes your chances
4 part 2) Gluten free? gluten is what makes real pizza dough what it is. Every pizza I
make has meat on it.....lots of meat. If you want to tiptoe through the tulips I'll give you your own hunk of dough and you can cook whatever you
like, just don't tell anyone where you got it, I have a reputation to maintain..
