you can get your guns legal by joining a rod & gun club...lots of paperwork to submit and visits to the military base but worth it if you want to legalize your weapons

for info & pics of our little paradise & whale watching info

as you state if people want guns they won't follow the law. same anywhere I guess. areas of chicago and the other cities you mention are safe as anywhere else if you know the areas.

As per the questions above. I've always owned guns for protection and hunting...no matter where I've lived. Agreed that chances are slight for a home invasion in the places I've lived, including Utah, California (north and south), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, etc. But that one single time that it happens, I want to be at the ready to protect my family. In Utah, if someone breaks into your home, shooting them and, perhaps, killing them is 100% justified. It's more complicated in California, but the law, especially in Northern California, sees it as justified if it's for self protection. I sleep better at night, no matter where I am on this planet, with a gun nearby. I'd rather be prepared to scare off a perpetrator or, if they take things to the next level, take them out if they're a threat. One ounce of prevention......

I doubt if Mexico has a 'make my day law ' and I suspect if you were to shoot someone regardless of the circumstances and legality of the gun you would be going to jail.

Even better if the recently deceased burglar/assailant is found in a dumpster with a note that says "no provocan el padrino"

My understanding of that here on the mainland is if you shoot someone on your property it needs to be no bigger than a .38.
You will go to jail but your attorney should be able to get you out on an amparo..... it's best if the dead person is in your house but a courtyard should suffice.
I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people who live in the country here and they are pretty well schooled regarding this.
