Any good outboard motor repair shops in SF ?

Gonzaga Bay

'87 85hp Force outboard
been sitting for 2 years
some minor starter motor issues
Seem to have a "hard to turn" flywheel...it turns but "it doesnt want to !"

Anyway I'm thinking I jus want a GOOD outboard guy to get me back up n runnin

Really dont wanna take it to San Diego...ie; slow trailer lane at the border, trailer lite issues n hassles, storage in SD,etc, etc.

A SF shop would be ideal !!!!!
I'm returning to GB in Nov for the Baja 1000...great pick it up time.(if its done by then...baja work speed n parts avail)

There is a guy that does all types of engine repair in Pete's Camp named "Dick". He also has a small shop in Playa de Oro, both in San Felipe.
His phone number is 414 659 6133.
I've seen boats around his shop, so I guess he does outboards. He did excellent work on my generator at my house.

You might consider squirting a little 30w oil in the cylinders (remove the sparkplugs) and then turning the engine manually for several revolutions. An engine that sat in a marine environment for two years might have some corrosion on the cylinder walls. That may be what it making the starter work so hard. Starters usually turn......or they dont. Not much in between, usually.

When you get the engine started, it will smoke quite a bit with the 30w oil in there.

A compression test wouldn't hurt, either, to make sure you aren't throwing money at an engine that has major problems.

I don't know his email address, or if he even has one. He lives full time in SF, only makes occasional trips north. The phone number looks weird, but I called him with my ATT cell from San Felipe.
