Directions / sign-age through La Paz

Last year I either missed the turn or was in the wrong lane (southbound) and ended up in Centro at afternoon rush and spent an hour in various traffic jams trying to find my way back to 1 . The year before I turned up towards the university which worked but was a bit willy-nilly.
Can someone explain the best route through La Paz these days ?

South-bound or North-bound?

South-bound:

At the Whale's Tail/Peace Dove entrance park, stay to the right.

You should pass Walmart on your left.

At the light at the corner with Home Depot, turn right.

This is the levee rd (libremiento) along the dry riverbed.

Follow this to the light with Mex 1, turn right to Cabo/Todos.

If you pass Walmart on your right, you are headed towards downtown and the Malecon. Turn right at the light at the Walmart corner to get on the levee road.

North-bound:

There are no good landmarks coming into La Paz other than the big dry riverbed. There is light at each end of the five or six span bridge.

Turn left onto the levee road at the light just before the bridge.

Then left at the Home Depot.

You are then on Mex 1 heading north out of town.

Road names? You don't need them - there aren't signs....
