Old men's home - dentists and more!
Les and I are in San Diego and this is the trip so far:
We stopped in Catavina to fill up the tank and I ran over to the hotel to make a small but always significant donation. Here is a pic of me and the
amazing ambulance:
From there we went to visit the ANCIANOS or the old folks home.
THIS IS THE SIGN IF YOU ARE HEADED NORTH:
THIS IS THE SIGN IF YOU ARE HEADED SOUTH:
THESE ARE THE VARIOUS DONATIONS - THE TWO GROUPS FROM MY MIDDLE SCHOOL, THE ONE LEFT FOR US TO DELIVER BY A BAJANOMADER AND OUR DONATION OF MOSTLY
KITCHEN STUFF:
AND THE STARS THEMSELVES! THEY WERE ALL SO RELAXED AND LISTENING TO MUSIC. THE HOUSE IS SIMPLE BUT CLEAN AND EVERYONE SMILED AND SAID HI. I TOOK
SHORT VIDEO AND ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL ADD IT HERE:
ONCE IN ENSENADA, WE SPENT THE NIGHT AND TOOK OFF FOR TIJUANA AND DENTIST 6 AM. ONCE IN TJ, IT WAS REALLY EASY TO FIND THE DENTIST WHO OFFERED TO
TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS ON A VERY BUSY SATURDAY. TURNS OUT THAT ANGEL HAS SOME SERIOUS - VERY SERIOUS - TOOTH ISSUES. SO SERIOUS THAT THE DOC SAID
THAT IF WE DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF IT NOW, IT COULD'VE TURNED INTO CANCER. SCARED THE BEJEEZUS OUT OF ME. AND ANGEL WAS IN PAIN. ONLY 17, HE HAS NO
ONE IN THIS WORLD WHO CARES. THERE IS A MOM AND THERE IS A DAD, BUT THOSE ARE SIMPLY WORDS WITH NO LOVE.....10 HOURS GAVE US LOTS OF TIME TO GET TO
KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER.
HERE IS WHEN WE FOUND THE PLACE:
THIS IS JULIAN GETTING HIS FILLINGS:
AND THIS IS ANGEL, WHO HAS TO RETURN TOMORROW FOR PART 2 AND AGAIN IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS FOR PART 3:
FROM THERE WE SENT THE BOYS OFF TO A FRIEND IN ENSENADA'S WHERE THEY HAVE A PLACE TO STAY. THEY HAVE MONEY TO EAT AND FOR THE MEDS THEY HAD TO BUY
AND TAKE TO AVOID INFECTIONS. THANKS TO THOSE WHO GAVE CASH.....IT IS GOING TO GREAT USE !
HERE WE ARE AFTER THEIR PROCEDURES. ANGEL ON THE RIGHT HAD AN IMPACTED WISDOM TOOTH REMOVED. NO SMILES ....
ONCE THEY WERE ON THE BUS, LES AND I WENT OUT FOR BREAKFAST OURSELVES. THIS IS THE SAME PLACE THAT EXISTS IN MEXICO CITY (THE MEXICO CITY VENUE IS
MUCH MORE ELEGANT). SANBORN'S RESTAURANT.
BREAKFAST BUFFET:
THEY ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR DISHWARE WHICH IS IMPORTED FROM ENGLAND ESPECIALLY FOR THEM:
LES WILL MEET THE BOYS AT THE DENTIST TOMORROW WITH SUPER WINTER COATS I BOUGHT THEM TODAY - IT IS ABSOLUTELY FREEZING IN TJ. COLDER THAN SAN DIEGO.
I HAVE CATARACT SURGERY SCHEDULED.
THE BOYS HAVE THANKED ME OVER AND OVER - THEY HAVE NOT ENJOYED THE DENTIST BUT THEY HAVE ENJOYED VISITING ENSENADA AND TIJUANA.
IF ANYONE IS HEADED SOUTH OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS - THEY NEED RIDES SOUTH TO THE PUNTA ABREOJOS TURNOFF. WE CAN GET SOMEONE TO MEET THEM THERE.
ANYTIME AFTER MONDAY NOON.......
I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW STRESSFUL IT WAS TO ORGANIZE THIS TRIP AND MAKE SURE ALL THE DUCKS WERE LINED UP. THANKS TO YOUR SUPORTIVE WORDS AND CASH,
THIS TURNED OUT 100% PERFECTOMUNDO.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

when you write, you make my day! so, yes, you have helped !
I had cataract surgery today and all went well. thanx Diana.
I had hoped to pick up toys downtown to take to TJ, but that just did not pan out. yet.
Fernando FDT was the dentist contact - he referred us to Dr Alan who has all the specialists for the difficult impacted molars and root canals.
They have gone above and beyond anything I ever imagined in taking great care of the teens.
Life is good -very good - today.

Akmaxx, your pic doesn't show? And I also want to say THANK YOU to you for giving me and the kids a free pizza when we were in La Paz. Life is made
up of moments and we had a blast that day! So thanks.
Merry Christmas!
And now I am letting the Cat out of the Bag: It was genecag and his wife who donated to the ancianos. Their donation was huge: two big boxes of
food, two big boxes of diapers, two big costco toilet papers and more. They are amazingly generous.

What a great Christmas Present! While I am sorry genecag did not have the pleasure of meeting the men and their caretakers, it is wonderful that you
and Les were able to deliver all of this in the middle of being involved in all the great things you do! I look forward to your video.
Next time you stop by there, I hope you get to meet Penny. I don't know if you were able to contact her, but she said she would have Murray look for
the knife holder. :-)
Take care of yourself, have a great holiday and rest up before you head back down because you know you will be busy taking care of so many!
And genecag --- thank you so very much for your wonderful donation. I know it helped make a happy Christmas for many.

Blanca and Les
You two are amazing on how much good will you spread up and down the Baja. Glad my buddies and I could visit you last October and enjoyed the
pics...We will be headed down to SQ on our way to BOLA in June and will definitely stop and meet the "old Men". My only concern is they may want to
keep me!
Seriously
Best to you and Les and already missing Polish eggs in the morning!

Agree ^^!
Thank you Blanca & Les for all that you do to help people in need, and for encouraging others and showing ways we can help as well.
I'll be collecting more dental supplies for my next trip south.

Happy New Year to everyone. Trust me, every one of us can make a difference. We are so lucky to be from the land of plenty - the dollar stores in
the .states have amazing sales of 5 can of peas for a guck, or 10 pairs of socks for $1 and so on ....all of this is good!
Nappo! Funny lines you wrote hahaha. See you in June with the "gang".
You guys, it is true that Les is wonderful.....he does not even question my traipses here and there any more. He used to be the type A personality
that started at A and ended up at point B. No stops for anything but gas etc. Now ??? Every trip has NUMEROUS stops and I don't even tell him till
we are on the way. Thank goodness his patience is almost limitless.
Anyone who has $10 to spare, please stop by Antonio's Baja Cactus hotel and make a donation. If you look at their facebook page, they are saving
lives almost every minute of every day. On Christmas day, they made three trips out. You gotta admire these folks !
In a minute I will post a pic from this mornings class with the middle schoolers who are getting booster classes. I gave them all a notebook, a
pencil and flashcards to memorize their verbs!
