El Cortez San Felipe

Just back from Baja. San Felipe was our first stop. Had been trying the Cortez phone for three days with no luck. Showed up and they did have my reservation which had been made a month ago. Hotel was clean as always. Housekeeping very friendly. The bad news...small electric space heater and cold weather don't mix. Especially when the hotel looses electricity mid way through the night.

Power was still off the next morning and water in shower was Luke warm. They managed to operate the restaurant with a generator.

No credit card accepted. Claimed they changed banks and have not received the new terminal. Also, I noticed they had put a red and black flag up by office. Only other time I noiced that was the hotel in La Paz that was closed due to union strike. Can anyone shed some light in that?

In Mexico a red and black sign of any kind is bad news for the business. It ='s huelga. (strike) All the windows in the Los Arcos hotel are painted red & black and have been for over six years.

Every beautiful beach in the world needs a few condo towers - NOT.
