Great article!
Dead on about the locals' attitudes.
The first time we went into town after the storm, we were headed to a gringo hang-out for some breakfast. As we neared the restaurant, I told Jim that I had changed my mind. I wanted to go to the municipal mercado in stead.
When we got there, the place was as busy as we had ever seen it. Everyone talking and eating and LAUGHING. We had the best huevos rancheros ever on styrofoam plates and left with a much better attitude. A lesson was learned...get over it!

Was this a public relations piece for the Solmar Group? From all reports I've heard and read, there was far more damage North of the cape.

Yeah, the 13 million number had to be wrong so I went looking because it wasn't the first time I'd seen it.

This may have been the origin.
