Camping in/near Gonzaga

Looking to Camp near Gonzaga April 9-15. Have been to the area several times before, but always stayed at friends house. Is there camping at Papa Fernandez, Alfonsina's, or Punta Final? Any palapas to rent, or cabins like what Doc has at Gecko? Thanks for the help.

Palapas for rent at Rancho Grande and Campo Beluga. Beluga has flush toilets and showers.

Where is Campo Beluga, and can I reserve a place?

I believe it's first come first serve. Beluga is located just south of the Rancho Grande palapas on the beach. Once you get to Gonzaga, you'll see a sign. Or just ask someone to point it out.

Don't think you would need a reservation anyway. Never have seen it full.

Beluga is located on a nice piece of beach but when I was there a number of months back all they had was palmfronded palapas. No walls or windbreaks. The reason I mention this is that you suggest Gecko's in Bahia de Los Angeles as the ideal. Unless there's something recent, there are no Gecko's style cabins in Gonzaga.

Have a good trip and write us a nice report when you can.

camping at Papa's

Two years ago we went to Papa's and negotiated a week on the beach just North of his place.
You drive through his compound, past the boat ramp, over the little saddle and there is a terrific beach.
They have palapas and outhouses at the South end.... avoid that.
Go as far North as you can go, it is a really nice, secluded and comfortable beach to live on for a week.
Easy access back to the rest of the area, but just like you are in a remote spot.
Enjoy!!

Alfonsina's area is very cool. There's a camp with all you need, the Alfonsina's Motel (8 rooms cheap and excellent! on the bay beach) and the greeeeeat resturant there at Alfonsina's. A small settlement it is. Check for the gas station there being open. Military check point at the hiway is strick but professional

I think I shall try at Papa's. Have been to Punta Bufeo several times and love the area.
Thanks everybody.
