Just a casual ride over the pass about half way to SJ / La Ballenia. The first 10 miles from Mulege has changed completely, no more cattle grate,
water tank is gone, trees and cactus gone, just wide open sand dunes.

The group from Chivato with quads just returned from San Juanico and made it the whole way. Reportedly a little rough but doable the whole way. They
stayed in San Juanico and returned yesterday.

Yep, they are gone!
Your first pic, with the sign, is exactly where my pics were taken. There are new signs there now and the burros have grown.
Motos, quads, stock vw's and off road cars will not have any trouble on the La Ballena road. Jeeps and Toyotas will need to go slow. My friend in the
older Cherokee was out there the same day and he tore off a spring shackle. Being creative, he strapped on a piece of rebar and continued.
