My only experience with foam filled tires has been on heavy equipment. The things I can think of that could cause problems would be; added weight to the wheel/tire, difficulty with balancing, loss of ability to change pressure for different conditions, replacing tires when they are worn.
Like I said, all I know is heavy stuff, I don't know anyone with light duty foamed tires.

We use them on our race bikes. We have heard stories of problems with them breaking down but we haven't experienced any issues. My son races in the pro class so they get and take a beating.

there are different grades of foam fill, heavy for construction, and lightweight for other applications. was wondering if any break down of the material would occur in elevated temps or higher speed useage. any input on paved roads would be helpful too.

Check out www.tireballs.com A little pricey but not awful, or if you are talking a quad take a look at the run flat tires like these: http://www.gpsoffroadproducts.com/shop/a-033-12-ply/

Stiff tire but no flats!
