Traffic Southbound Nogales to Topolobampo March 24 to 27

Hi,
Does anyone have a guess re level of traffic and border congestion going Southbound from Nogales, AZ to Topolobampo, then to La Paz via Ferry March 24 to 27, the week preceding Semana Santa?

Thanks, Jay

I stay away anywhere near Easter in Mexico. The highway is well maintained generally fast. Mostly divided. Easy to get lost in Los Mochis

You wont have any issues, except the on-again, off-again road block by an indigenous tribe (I think it is the Yaquis), protesting the absconding of their water rights by the state of Sonora, so that Hermosillo doesn't run out of water. Just follow the cars doing the detour. It is southbound in Vicam. Takes maybe five minutes.

There is no traffic between Topo and La Paz. Should be smooth sailing. :P

That is one long day if you are trying to do it from the border to Topo, amigo. But at least it is multilane, all the way. San Carlos makes for a good half way point. Beautiful area, IMO.

Your dates are actually 2 weeks before Semana Santa; the madness will be the next week. You'll have only a few camp-savers to deal with on the highway... just watch for rigs piled high with 'stuff' tied down on the roof driving fast; they 'have to be first', so let 'em. You should be fine.

I was assuming that Semana Santa would be the week before Apr 5 -Easter Sunday, from March 28 to Easter? Two weeks would suggest the week after Easter would be busy. Am I off here?

thanks, Jay
