Dear mechanic's, what is this problem? (besides a loose nut behind the starter key)
For you smart mechanically inclined people, What's your thoughts for a remedy. I went camping at Santo Tomas and all went well except I screwed up
and damaged my generator.
It's a Honda, 3000 watt, electric start, 2 years old but low hours on it when I accidentally left the choke on and ran it for 40 minutes with a
moderate load. When I noticed the choke was on, I pushed it in and the generator ran about a minute then stopped. It started a couple of times for
a few seconds but won't run now.

while you're in maintenance mode clean the air filter and change the oil.

I agree with the above suggestions but if it will still not start, my question is will it start with the choke on? If so then possibly your main jet
is plugged with something, maybe gum from old gas. Did it sit for a long time between uses?

I am surprised it ran for 40 minutes and you could not tell the choke was on. As stated before, change the plug..and maybe have the carb cleaned by
a professional.

You are correct SIR(s). Cleaned the plug and runs perfect. Concise and correct advice. The plug was dark with soot so I cleaned it and put it back
in service. I will buy a couple plugs to have on hand. I recently changed oil so don't need anything right now.

One last comment, keep the gen topped off (gas) and use Sta-Bil. Running it regularly helps but I don't do that much myself. Glad it worked
out.

would be better to drain the tank and fuel bowl and store it dry if not used much

If the generator ran that rich, and flooded out , change the oil again anyway. Oil is cheap, but at least check it for thinning or gas smell. I have
a honda engine on a water pump, and sometimes the float sticks and the oil gets diluted with gasoline. I try to remember to shut off the fuel valve
every time I shut down (and then try to remember I did that!).
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
