just heard from a Mexican that during the war they were not allowed to have lights on at night in Todos Santos.
On occasion they would hear heavy gun fire out on the ocean

This was found when I was researching the Internet trying to find anything on the roads we built to San Felipe in WWII. Either the 'Pole Line Road'
from Ensenada (or from the auto road of the time out from Ensenada to Valle de Trinidad) or the 'Radar Road' from Mexicali south.
Baja is a time machine!

I heard a rumor once that there is a submarine buried at El Tomatal. Maybe that's why there is that weird electrical effect on cars there.

Prior to World War II, Eddie Albert (Green Acres) toured Mexico as a clown and high-wire artist with the Escalante Brothers Circus, but was secretly
working for U.S. Army intelligence, photographing German U-boats in Mexican harbors. Later Albert enlisted in the United States Navy and was awarded
the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for his actions during the invasion of Tarawa. He was married to the Mexican actress Margo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Albert . Wonder if his Army intelligence work took him to Baja?

Fort Stevens Oregon was shelled by the Japanese submarine I25 in 1942 and later in the year launched a seaplane that dropped incendiary bombs near
Brookings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardment_of_Fort_Stevens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lookout_Air_Raids Neither attack did any significant damage but in 1945 6 people were killed by a Japanese Fire
Balloon near Klamath Falls Oregon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_balloon , Some of the Fire Balloons were reported to have landed in Mexico, wonder if any came down in Baja?

There's some abandoned concrete cabins at Tomatal/Miller's Landing---I seem to recall it was a fishing camp. Any info or stories why it was
abandoned?
