ISIS In Mexico Rumor Started By Conservative Blog, Debunked By U.S. Officials

The rumor that ISIS is operating in Mexico, just eight miles from the U.S. border, was allegedly started by a discredited conservative blog called Judicial Watch.

“ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector,” the blog wrote in an article titled “ISIS Camp a Few Miles from Texas, Mexican Authorities Confirm.”

During the course of a joint operation last week, Mexican Army and federal law enforcement officials discovered documents in Arabic and Urdu, as well as “plans” of Fort Bliss – the sprawling military installation that houses the US Army’s 1st Armored Division. Muslim prayer rugs were recovered with the documents during the operation.

According to these same sources, “coyotes” engaged in human smuggling – and working for Juárez Cartel – help move ISIS terrorists through the desert and across the border between Santa Teresa and Sunland Park, New Mexico. To the east of El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, cartel-backed “coyotes” are also smuggling ISIS terrorists through the porous border between Acala and Fort Hanc-ck, Texas. These specific areas were targeted for exploitation by ISIS because of their understaffed municipal and county police forces, and the relative safe-havens the areas provide for the unchecked large-scale drug smuggling that was already ongoing.

Mexican intelligence sources report that ISIS intends to exploit the railways and airport facilities in the vicinity of Santa Teresa, NM (a US port-of-entry). The sources also say that ISIS has “spotters” located in the East Potrillo Mountains of New Mexico (largely managed by the Bureau of Land Management) to assist with terrorist border crossing operations.”

n a statement to Fox News, a State Department spokesman debunked the rumors saying, “The United States and Mexico work together on counterterrorism and border security to protect the citizens of both of our countries from the threat of terrorism and violent extremism.”

For one to say that there are NO, like in zero, people in Mexico that are simpatico and/or involved with the ISIS ... is narrow minded, at a minimum ... or completely devoid of any type of risk assessments concepts which operate in the real world ... as it relates to security for a Nation ... from individuals and/or organizations with goals to effect permanent change in how one lives their life ... with what ever means necessary .. which would be a nice bunch to hang with ... HUH Pete, but, then guess it depends on who one is "rooting" for

That was why the reference ... about Osiris ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isis

Must say, the latter tends to fit Pete's thinking a lot ... Mythology ... not reality :biggrin:

"Debunked By U.S. Officials"

Say .... now that's something to hang one's hat on ...

How about WMD's and sub-prime Lending .. :lol::lol:

Do ya mean that ALL "Government Officials" debunked this

Got a "Link" ... :biggrin::biggrin:

You do realize that the primary reason for the border waits is because, at the time, someone thought that Osama was going to be smuggled in a vehicle trunk into the US.

I tend to disagree with the idea that there are many ISIS sympathizers in Mexico.

Who said there were "many" ...

Was attempting to help Pete out with "his" absolutes ...

No number was placed on people in Mexico that support and/or think the cause is correct .(ANY cause).. just that there would be some ... zero is not attainable in things like this :):)

And NO I never thought that guy was coming into the United States in the trunk of a car ... Hell, he was 6'4" tall

Not saying he wouldn't fit ... just odds were slim and/or not in my life IMHO

Attribution ?

Perhaps it's because I don't travel in the Dark Shadows that the Conspiracy theorists do, BUT I don't remember EVER hearing that there was a concern that Obama's cousin Osama was going to sneak into the U.S. via a car trunk at the border.

WHERE was THAT story ?

BTW, I just ordered a dozen "HONK If You Hate OBAMA" Bumper Stickers.

My wife says that I may be sorry.

That I invite such a deafening noise on the road.

We'll see.

You seem to not understand there is no evidence that ISIS is in Mexico.

The title of this thread isn't, "if there is a possibly that ISIS could be in Mexico," I guess it's a possibly that ISIS could be in Mexico, getting ready to sneak over the border and attack the US. There also is a possibility, that pigs could fly one day, but so far there is no evidence that pigs could fly right now, just like there isn't evidence that ISIS is in Mexico right over the border at this time.

The fact is "Judicial Watch" is not a credible source, and it appears the story about ISIS in Mexico, is nothing more than a hoax.

If you have evidence on the contrary Wesson, I would like to see it, and again, your evidence, should only be specific in regards to ISIS in Mexico, and not some unrelated subject.

Lets post the actual article from "Judicial Watch" which seems to quote a lot of knowledgeable sources, except they are all anonymous sources, and they are supposedly from American and Mexican sources from both sides of the border.

This is journalism at it's best, and the only question that I have, is where is the San Diego Tribune, and their beat reporter, Sandra Dibble, who covers the US/Mexico border news? How did Ms Dibble miss this very important story?

ISIS Camp a Few Miles from Texas, Mexican Authorities Confirm

ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector.

The exact location where the terrorist group has established its base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Another ISIS cell to the west of Ciudad Juárez, in Puerto Palomas, targets the New Mexico towns of Columbus and Deming for easy access to the United States, the same knowledgeable sources confirm.

Law enforcement and intelligence sources report the area around Anapra is dominated by the Vicente Carrillo Fuentes Cartel (“Juárez Cartel”), La Línea (the enforcement arm of the cartel) and the Barrio Azteca (a gang originally formed in the jails of El Paso). Cartel control of the Anapra area make it an extremely dangerous and hostile operating environment for Mexican Army and Federal Police operations.

The sources also say that ISIS has “spotters” located in the East Potrillo Mountains of New Mexico (largely managed by the Bureau of Land Management) to assist with terrorist border crossing operations. ISIS is conducting reconnaissance of regional universities; the White Sands Missile Range; government facilities in Alamogordo, NM; Ft. Bliss; and the electrical power facilities near Anapra and Chaparral, NM.
