Spirit Airlines to Cabo - Tourist Card question
My wife and I booked a trip to Cabo through Expedia. We booked on Spirit Airlines before we realized that they nickel and dime you to death for
everything. From my past experience flying to mexico, normally the airline passes out a paid tourist card mid-flight. Does anyone know how this
works with Spirit? Should I pick up a card in TJ before the trip or will Spirit provide a card?

In what country do you get on the plane? If Mexico, then no... you obtain at the border or at the airport.

They will hand out the paper mid flight. Fill it in on the plane and hand it to the immigration guy at the airport in Cabo. Just like all the other
airlines do. Don't forget your passport, and of course a pen.
Spirit works well if you don't bring luggage, don't need leg room and you aren't hungry. We fly it with a personal item that fits under the seat (no
charge) and maybe one checked bag between us. Still comes out much cheaper than Alaska.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

All airlines crossing the border would give you a blank before landing. Sometimes they run out of blanks (rarely), and sometimes have it in Spanish
only. This is just a blank. The officer at the landing will have a bunch of them, if you make a mistake and need to fill it again. And, since the
officer doesn't collect any money - doesn't even have a proper equipment at the counter - I don't see how he could suddenly collect those $25 from
passengers of Spirit.

Flew Spirit once - never again! Everything costs extra, no legroom, I'm surprised they didn't charge to use the restroom. Thanks, but I'll pay the
difference for a better trip on Alaska or another real airline.

I flew to Cabo a couple weeks ago on Alaska and they handed out the tourist cards mid-flight. As a heads up, bring your own pen because Alaska doesn't
supply them, UNLESS you're filling out the application for an Alaska VISA card, then they provide a pen.

Yeah, you need a pen. And reading glasses, duh ...
I don't even remember when any airline provided a pen for filling a declaration etc cards, be it to Mexico or to Canada. To few dozen passengers at
the same time, no kidding? Maybe only if you fly 1st class.
No checked baggage allowance is becoming a norm now, you have to pay from the 1st bag. The fees for checked luggage are increasing every few years.
No free meals is also a norm lately. Most airlines offer free tea/coffee though. Also, crossborder flights offer free drinks - don't know about Spirit
but this isn't terribly important to me.
Not that I vouch for Spirit - little leg room is a crime, IMO, but again, most airlines are doing it now. Alaska have an average leg room, not the
most generous.

Spirit is the best deal if flying from the states. Volaris if your willing to fly out of TJ which I do a lot. I'm 6'1" and have no problem with the
legroom on Spirit. It's extremely rare that Alaska can come within $200 of Spirit to either Los Cabos or PV unless flying at very off times and dates.
