I owned 3 Subaru 4WD wagons... 1977.5, 1980, 1986 models. I thought the name meaning was very cool. I had heard they made airplanes and the horizontal
(H-4) engine was originally an airplane motor, very smooth and balanced. Each of my Subarus got 1000's of miles of Baja travel put on them, and never
an engine or mechanical failure. My first experience with Japanese quality after having owned a new Jeep (1975), in which everything on it broke or
failed.

If you ever disassemble a Subaru engine the inside finishes are like jewelry. Very well made with attention to detail even inside out of sight. I'd
use one in an airplane any day. Just not enough ponies :-)

The Baja Challenger buggy class (BC) is Subaru powered!
In the 90's, Subaru got out of the part time 4WD market and went with full time AWD. No low range... that is why I didn't go back... plus I wanted a
true pickup, and the unibody Subaru passenger pickup BRAT or BAJA bed was not large enough for my stuff.

I've heard of people putting the Suburu engines in VW Vanagons and Westfalias.
The one Suburu I had, had head gasket issues.

The constellation Pleiades is also known as "The Seven Sisters". I noticed on the grill pic above Suburu only has six stars in it. Just
sayin........

Though there are seven sisters in the Greek mythology of the Pleiades there are actually only six visible to the naked eye (and around 1,000 that
aren't visible)...various Greek mythologies deal with the unseen sister, as you can imagine. Also, I don't know that the seven sisters mythologies
were ever incorporated into Japanese lore, so how would they know about the missing sister anyway. And this from Wikipedia:
"In Japan, the constellation is mentioned under the name Mutsuraboshi ("six stars") in the 8th century Kojiki and Manyosyu documents. The
constellation is also known in Japan as Subaru (“unite”) and is depicted in the logo and name of the Subaru automobile company."

Hai, Mexitron-san. Wakkadimastaka. Arigato gosaimasu. However, the ''Teeny Dipper" has been in my sights for 44 years now, and with binocs (plain
peepers ain't so good no more) there are 7 stars in the little cluster. Anywayz, if they in fact did use the Pleiades for a logo, they certainly have
good taste. 'Tls my favorite finder in the night skies.
