Extinct

Eventually it all comes down to the last one; the last Passenger Pigeon, the last Dodo Bird, etc. We may getting closer than you thought.

A. East Cape opens into the Great Pacific so fishing has been historically better than lots of other places.

B. With tourism waaaay down, the commercial charter fleet is at all time low numbers of boats/fishermen.

C. While Pescador (and me and lots of others) worry about billfish picture taking in the boat, marlin meat has become a staple in Mexican villages up and down the coast. All the Mexican fishermen want all the marlin they can capture to feed their families or to sell to other Mexicans the good fresh filets from 60 to 180 per kilo.

D. The Mexican families are now competing with restaurants everywhere there are boats bringing in fish, especially marlin -- it is the largest, best eating, fairly easily captured and transported source for handy protein.

CAN YOU GUESS WHERE THIS IS LEADING?

The answer: "What DIFFERENCE does it make!" A classic...

Rebuttal: If you don't see the problem, then maybe YOU are the problem.
