Parking in Cataveņa
Does anyone know of a safe place to leave a couple of vehicles for several days in Cataveņia? Does the hotel have any parking other than in front?

Interesting Question? I would talk to the police station, they seam like pretty nice guys when I have gone there. You might want to contact the
Mission Hotel also.

Not disparaging the Cataviņa police, but I had my 'BAJABUDDHA' front license plate stolen off my truck while parked right directly in front of the
open door to the Mulegé PD one late morning. The guy that used to be a CREEAD windshield-washer (everyone knows him and vice-versa, now works doing
odd-jobs and such) saw some juvies with it and laughing, trying to sell it; so he grabbed it, scolded them and gave it back to me after he searched me
down in the town to return it to me. I offered him pesos, he declined, and just told me we're 'amigos'. He really is a great guy.
Yeah, police stations are real safe. 
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

I was speaking of the station in Catavina. I have met them a couple of times and they seem like stand up guys. There was a Toyota 4 runner parked
there for a while, a while back.

I know you were, MMc... please re-read my first 5 words. I was merely relating a story; please don't take it personally. I'm sure if he goes inside
and talks with them about leaving a vehicle they'd be more than happy to oblige. Mulegé and Cataviņa Police Stations are worlds apart.

I think that's a good idea. We stay there on the way down and back. I bet you could park them next to their house. Of course offer to pay something.
They charge 100 pesos a night to camp there.

El Jefe's name is Oscar, can't remember wife or last name, daughter is Gloria.
Always loved and camped at Sta. Inez, but sadly has gone downhill now. Cattle are not segregated, campground full of patties and flies, and their
once-pristine "agua dulce" spring is now soiled; broken pipe and never fixed. Last stop the water from the tap was brackish and smelly; had to dump
it and wash out my water bottle. However, if there are residents at the hacienda and you can park in the yard would be very good; otherwise, quien
sabes? Baja Ralph who lives behind the ranchero has had break-ins.

You'll be glad to hear the place was clean this past May when I stopped there. No cattle, no patties. I thought it was fine. Tap water OK for washing
and the flush toilet worked.
I think it's a great place to stop. Very scenic. 8 hours from the border, 8 hours to Mulege driving at my pace.
BTW, Ralph has a new dog on the 3 wheeler.
