Tijuana Has Most Cases of Tuberculosis in Mexico

Probably due to the extremely horrible air pollution. When I lived there several years ago, my apartment had a daily black film on everything so I was cleaning daily:

Thanks...

I think TB is a virus infected 'person to person' by coughing and spitting from infected people. It happens where there is no pollution, as well.

Hola,

i read bajaguys' posting on tb, very interesting.

a mexican doctor friend of mine in the east cape and from tijuana told me that many people in tijuana have tb showing up in tests but are not infectuous. apparently, it is quite common in tijuana ?

unfortunately, i do not have any documentation of this.

Mexico uses a TB vaccination, called BCG, that is seldom used in the United States. People who have had the vaccine sometimes have a positive TB skin test.

"People who were previously vaccinated with BCG may receive a TB skin test to test for TB infection. Vaccination with BCG may cause a positive reaction to a TB skin test. A positive reaction to a TB skin test may be due to the BCG vaccine itself or due to infection with TB bacteria."

TB Reminds Me......................

Of a line in a movie set in the Vietnam war.

Wherein, advice given regarding the "working girls" was to the effect that "half of the hookers had TB and the other half were VC so pick the ones that coughed".
