Fastest way to ensenada
At the risk of starting a fight. What is the fastest way from El Cajon area to Ensenada. I never drive south this way. It will be about three thirty

Google maps says dealer's choice. You don't be dealing with much traffic at that time. I would check the traffic on Google and go with whatever floats
your boat. The toll road is a bit more mindless for me.

805 south, 905 east, Otay crossing, Corridor 2000, toll road

The Corridor 2000 route is probably 10 minutes faster but can be a much more hair-raising experience during afternoon traffic with pedestrians dashing
across the freeway and semis pulling U-turns right in front of you.
805 or 15 to SY crossing then the toll road is much more pleasant with no traffic, cool ocean breezes, and million dollar views as you descend into
Ensenada. It will cost you an extra $2 toll and ten minutes.

Mick, it is pretty equal and the only issue may be southbound border traffic in the afternoon.
1) Downtown Tijuana Crossing: 1-8 west to 125 south to 94 west to 805 south. Take Scenic Highway (toll road) to Playas/Rosarito/Ensenada.
2) Otay Mesa, as bajaguy describes... perhaps my favorite way of the two, but you do have several blocks of city traffic before the freeway begins
(2-D, signed for Tecate/Mexicali "Cuota", then Corridor 2000 south, signed for Popotla/Rosarito). At the end, you will turn south of the free road to
Ensenada, but can hop onto the toll road in a few miles at Puerto Nuevo or Cantamar.

San Ysidro and the toll road.
way faster than BLVD 2000 and you don't have the traffic.
Once you make the right turn on the bridge right past the border, you are practically on cruise control for the next 100 KM.
on BLVD 2000, if you are not handling the Otay traffic, or the guys running across the north end of 2000, you got to worry about hitting a horse
before you reach the toll road. And once you get to the coast, you gotta drive on the free road a few KMs in order to get on the toll.

I agree with the San Ysidro and toll road way to Ensenada. But if You can make it early to the border it will be almost traffic free. At both border
crossings. From 3:30 p.m. And later the traffic gets heavy until after 7:00 p.m. Weekly Commuters. Friday it's the worst of all. The commuters come
home for the weekend and go back on Sunday afternoon.
