had to look this one up:

Ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) is diesel fuel with substantially lowered sulfur content. As of 2006, almost all of the petroleum-based diesel fuel available in UK, Europe and North America is of a ULSD type.

we live in Baja Sur but I have no idea if the diesel is low or not. I will try to find out.

Low and Ultra Low are the two types. Thank you Doug for moving the thread to the correct forum so more can contribute, and maybe even get a good answer!

El Rosario is NOT the furthest south for ULSD.
All of the state of Baja California (Norte) stations that get their fuel from the El Sauzal (Ensenada) or Mexicali Pemex depots will have ULSD.

That means the vendor at Cataviņa, and the Pemex stations at Bahia de los Angeles, Bahia San Luis Gonzaga, and the vendor at Punta Prieta would have ULSD, all south of El Rosario.

Now, technically the Villa Jesus Maria station is in 'Norte' and would have ULSD, but being only 20 some miles from 'Sur', I just don't know?

Last year, Antonio of Baja Cactus informed me that ULSD was available down to Villa Jesus Maria, as they got their shipments from the North. I asked the attendant when I passed thru, and he confirmed that their fuel shipments came from the north. It was my understanding that ULSD was going to be available in Baja Sur in 2015, hence the inquiry. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. Didn't mean to cause a ruckus. On second thought, I'm not sorry. :P:P

I been around Baja long enough to know that such a confident statement of fact is folly! In many parts of Mexico fuel is stolen and traded on a black market. Vendors and contracts change. Some goods in Mexico are labeled one thing when they are really another. Heck, most every Pemex in Mexico pours a short liter, so if dishonest in weight and measures, why wouldn't they be dishonest in product labeling?

I know the owner of the Jesus Maria station and he told me that his fuel comes from the fuel depot in Santa Rosalia just like Guerrero Negro. Thus they have the same shortages as everyone else in the are when storms come through. I'll look him up again.
