long term car rental
We are thinking about renting a car instead of driving our own for our coming winter trip, at least 3 months duration. Does anyone have any experience
with car rental/leasing agencies in Tijuana? Good, bad or otherwise, recent info please. The usual internet search options are either too expensive,
won't rent for that long, or are just too sketchy. Thanks in advance.

Think about buying a car for your trip then selling it when you are done. You can buy a used car North of the border and sell it South of the border
and recover your investment if you buy it right. You can quick sell it and deduct some of what a rental would cost.

Buy a used, older vehicle that will fill your needs. Then, a week or so before your return to the States, put it on Craigslist and a big sign in the
back window and get your best price.
Guaranteed better value than renting.

Over the years of traveling in Mexico my wife and I have run into several people, sometimes groups, from places outside the US, who bought a beat up
RV (usually type C) and cruised around for several months in them. Usually investing a few thousand dollars for the purchase which when split between
the parties seemed a decent way to travel (personal toilet, room for goods, etc.). Their plan was to sell it for whatever they got upon returning and
a few mentioned internet communication to other foreigners looking to do the same and having their vehicle available for purchase.

ditto,, yes don't even think of selling it MX,, otherwise I agree on buying a used car and selling it on your return,, if you don't want to mess with
selling it yourself,, you can just sell it to a used car dealer on the spot

Thanks to everyone for the good suggestions. But I guess the answer to my question is that no one knows of a way to rent/lease a car for 3 months. So
while we haven't given up on this idea yet, we are preparing our little SUV (and our minds) for the long drive from the Atlantic to Baja once again.

Hey....that drive is part of the adventure.
Why don't you want to take your own vehicle.....wear and tear factors or "security"?

They buy wrecked cars at auctions under "salvage" or "not repairable - parts only", but with some new parts and lots of bondo and paint, they put it
back on the sreet.
I have yet to know a maistro carrocero who says it canīt be done

Agree with Archie. You have no idea what you are buying, driving. When I totalled my explorer a few years ago, my greatest fear was that the
insurance co would insist on repairing it, bent frame and all. My second fear is to see it someday driving my way...it's probably out there on the
road somewhere.
