Creel, Cerocahui, Tubares (SIN), and El Fuerte (SIN) by Jeep

Creel in December 2007 - Be prepared for mud and snow. There were no safety guardrails along the high mountain trails. Our first overnight in Creel looked like this the next morning.

Kilometer numbers from Creel

Diego Rhodes (our hired guide) took us from his Paraiso del Oso in Cerocahui down to El Fuerte via Tubares, Sinaloa. I was called out by four local lookouts in Tubares who thought I was sent by the US Gov't to 'spy' on their local operations. Diego kept me from being made an example of - his guide services are highly recommended thanks to his relationships made with the local people, even past the mountains into Sinaloa.

Gassing up our Jeeps before departure down to El Fuerte, Sinaloa with Diego (Doug) Rhodes

As you get into the outskirts of the Cerocahui, gasoline is sold out of gerry cans. Supplies are all trucked in. Be sure you pack your gerry cans since it can be miles between gas stations - like this one in Cerocahui.

We got back a few days ago. I am still in awe of the beauty of the canyon. A really incredible place that pictures can't do justice for. I am already thinking about the next trip there. A MUST SEE! I will try to post some pictures later. Thanks everybody for the insight.
