Dawson Book Shop: Baja CA Travels Series Books (51)

How many Nomads have the Dawson historical information books, known as Baja California Travels Series?

They are a treasure indeed, published between 1965 and 1992. Originally 49 volumes plus an index, an additional volume was added as #51...

Here is the index listing of 1-49:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been collecting the series over the years (they are pretty pricey for small books) and with a recent blessing, I have almost every volume plus several duplicate volumes now.

I am missing two...

I have duplicate volumes of 18 books of the 51, and one is still brand new, unread, and wrapped. The others range in very good condition to some page warping, but totally readable and clean.

I would like to trade what I have extras of for the what I don't have. Please contact me if you have any Dawson series that you would like to swap for others. I also have extra copies of some classic Baja books, as well.

OK, back to the Dawson books...

Here are a couple samples I scanned for another Nomad recently...

More title pages (from my earlier collection, mostly mission subject)...

They are just phenomenal sources of information! I have craved a set all my life... but at $2,000 to $5,000 for a full set, it wasn't in the cards for this sprinkler guy! However, I was able to buy a few from Sunbelt in El Cajon and friends including my book partner Max also had gifted me a couple.

So, now I have almost a full set, really need just one... but is a book that was also published by a different company, and I have that one.

For Christmas, my son got me the one missing from the set... #11 'The Missions and Missionaries of Baja California by Francis Weber, 1968.
Thank you, Christopher!

To fully complete the 51 volume set would be to get #49, Baja California Railways by John Kirchner, 1988. The book was also published outside of the Dawson series, and I have it that way.
