Not sure if it has changed but it used to be the used vehicle had to be 3 or 4 years old. Can't remember which.

Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60 Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.

Can't import vehicles over a certain age. Don't remember what cutoff age is. But if truck is destined for the boonies, it probably won't matter, as truck in boondocks justs exists without worries.

With the pink slip, your friend can go to ONAPPAFA or ANOPROMEX and get a license to drive the car. In Ligui, that should work out OK and I have heard of no problems in Loreto. There have been a few problems in La Paz. It is a system which allows the national to license the car while they are "supposedly waiting to import the car". They also get a drivers license with the same agency.
The car will be worth infinitely more if you do legally import it but there were some serious problems with doing that at Otay Mesa for awhile and I do not know if that has been straightened out or not.

To import your truck, you need to export it from the US, then import it. This can take 2 days or more. Currently the importation laws are not being enforced until Dec. 15th or until the laws are revised. As mentioned, Onappafa orAnopromex plates iare good work around, for now.

Btw, fees for the above plates are negotiable, for others viewing this post. check them both, in the OP situation, let your friend take care of it.
