Hello all.
Was thinking of ways to get back to Baja Sur for the winter. The travel trailer I spent many a winter on Santispac went up in smoke (no injuries).
Since that time I have acquired three dogs which would be traveling with me. One of these dogs doesn't play nice with dogs out of her pack (working
on it) so here are my questions.
I am looking at a couple of ideas. Pick up another RV (small class c?) put in a composting toilet and stay somewhere more secluded like Santa Ines if
RV accessible. The other idea was drive down in the Cherokee, camping along the way and stay in a rental somewhere. My desire is January through
April/May but would pay until end of June if there would be a six month minimum.
The dream would be to rent a place like the places I see in San Nicolas which have shade and larger yard (I can contain them with e-collars as I do on
my seven acres in Colorado)
Preferred locations in general would be anywhere from San Bruno down to San Nicolas but am open to other possibilities. Can't do something like
Robin's rentals as they are too tight for my purposes. Don't mind super rustic as long as I have water and shade.
If you have read this far I am also willing to pay $500 US for someone who does the rental legwork.
So do I pick up another RV and try to wing it? Or do I find a rental and rough out the ride with the beasts? Or stay in Colorado and freeze my butt
off for the winter? All advise is appreciated. Thank you

You won't get any kind of RV into Santa Ynez unless it's a pick-up and camper, and I highly suggest 4wd... not that you absolutely need it to get in,
but if you're there for any duration you risk storms and problems... there are a few tricky spots. Other than that, because of the unruly kids,
you're talking about camping pretty much away from folks, which in itself is a risky situation... not that you can't take care of yourself, but
coyotes lurk and watch, and when you pack up to go to town you're leaving an opening. Sounds like you need to look for a rental somewhere because
fences make good neighbors. Good luck; white and cold suck unless you're an avid ski enthusiast.

where you coming from in Colorado??? we just rolled in from Westcliffe. where I understand its in the 20's today...
Gonna have to return in Dec this year so hope i left enough firewood in the wood shed..

if you just want to thaw out you could hang out on BLM land in the AZ-CA desert. there are spots w/ plenty of space .

Hi,
Don't know if Mulege is too far south for you. If not, check the Rentals and Real Estate available. A super sounding RV palapa is available at what
seems to be an excellent price. No trailer or RV included.

Mtnpop We are neighbors, sorta. I am in Salida and go to Westcliffe on moto rides often. You don't by any chance own the building there in the
center of town? Once had a lovely chat with a fella who uses a little O2 to help breath who was/is an avid motorcyclist as well.
It's looking more like the rental is the smarter move. I take the dogs in car now but will condition them to longer and longer rides over the next
couple of months until its time to head out.
