Road condition south of Gonzaga

Have a friend leaving San Felipe headed for Todos. She is pulling a 20 ft trailer with a SUV. Somone told her the road construction is ok and she can do it. I have heard the opposite. Please advise. Thank you in advance and Happy Thanksgiving !!

She can probably do it, but the 23 dirt miles will need to be driven at 5-10 mph to not destroy the trailer!

People do it, but I wouldn't personally try it. The weight of that trailer is going to create extra stress on an SUV, a flat tire will be bad enough but blowing out a suspension part will ruin her day. My attitude may be skewed, the older I get the less tolerance for risk I have. Twenty years ago I didn't bat an eye at hauling a trailer where they shouldn't be hauled.

Travel trailers are not meant to be dragged over washboard roads and rocky terrain. I don't care if you travel at 5 mph (been there, done that, paid the price). Things inside will either break or rattle loose. They just don't hold up to that kind of abuse. The SUV will be fine; springs and suspension, cupboards and the screws that hold 'em together WILL get rocked and socked. There'll be folks that will tell you 'no problem'.... I just ask this: how much does she like her trailer?
