Hotel in San Telmo
Hola everyone,
Planning on a trip up to the Observatory in May, and was wondering about a motel I remember in San Telmo.
This hotel would be at the north end of town...or maybe a mile out of town...on the east side of the road, up the hill a tick and about 100 yards
off Highway 1.
The turn-off from Highway 1 to the Observatory...is on the south end of town. Last time by I remember a large sign over the road at the turn off
from Highway 1. I think the sign said Parque Natural Sierra de San Pedro Martir.
Thanks for any information, Ron

The Pemex is about a mile north of the observatory road, but the motel on a hillside is further north, just south of Colonet. I think Paraiso is part
of the name?

Here is a review of the Paraiso/Colonet motel... and it includes a couple photos I took of it from a helicopter I was in, in 2014: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=74681

Hotel Paraiso
We've stayed there three times for Baja races, when we've been a chase/support truck.
The food is not bad, the rooms are fine.
If you are going up to the Observatory, consider staying at Meling Ranch or Rancho El Coyote - both are much more "authentic Baja" - and have other
activities there.
Hotel Paraiso is just what it looks like in David's pictures - a block of buildings up on a slope overlooking a busy/noisy highway - but nice for what
it is.

Always wondered about their restaurant. Passed it many times wondering if we should stop there instead of pushing on to Ensenada.

That's it!!! I may stay in a campsite in or around town, but we are planning on a bike ride to the observatory and will start at the
turn-off. This hotel..Paraios would be good for those who want a nice place to get a good night sleep before the ride.
And yes, I have contacted Meling Ranch, we plan on spending the night there after the ride.
Great help, thank you both, Ron
