Travel during Norra Mexican 1000
Next week we're heading back to BOLA for 6 weeks and plan to do the last leg from Jardines in San Quintin to BOLA on Saturday April 23. It looks like
the Mexican 1000 also leaves Ensenada that day headed for BOLA.
Does anyone know what impact that usually has on Hwy 1? Any idea what time the first racers will leave Ensenada?
Do they actually run any of that race on the highway or is it all off road?
Thanks in advance for your information and opinions.

Saturday 4/23 Bikes leave Ensenada & go to El Rosario for the night.
Sunday 4/24 Cars/Trucks leave Ensenada & go to Bahia de Los Angeles where the bikes will also land for the night.
Monday 4/25 all go Bahia de Los Angeles to Loreto
Tuesday 4/26 all go Loreto to La Paz
Wednesday 4/27 all go La Paz to San Jose del Cabo.

I was wondering the same and did some research. Exact routes aren't published until right before race. I contacted race organizer and her email
said they use pavement for for transit sections and expect lots of chase vehicles. Looking at previous years results and this year's entries, expect
100 or so in car class and 20ish motorcycles. Combine that with chase, pit crews and spectators. If you're travelling their section for the day, I
would expect some traffic. If you don't want the hassel, lag them by a day.

So I guess if we leave San Quintin on the 23rd in the morning we should stay ahead of the bikes who leave from Ensenada.
Does anyone know approximately what time the first bikes will take off?

I believe last year the bikes left Ensenada around noon, but I may be off. As long as you leave SanQ early afternoon I'm sure you'll be fine. Any town
where the event stops for the night may be well booked up though, so keep that in mind.
Despite what some uninformed clowns would have you believe, the Norra event is a much different atmosphere and format than a Score race, so I wouldn't
anticipate it being much of a problem. The only timed/racing sections are off-road as far as I know, and they give teams ample time to travel the
highway/transit sections safely.

We traveled to Los Barriles during the 2014 event and traffic was not a issue. The racers get hammered if they drive at excessive speeds on Hwy 1. We
saw race personnel checking speeds with radar guns in several locations. We followed one motorcycle for several miles and he was near the speed limit.
As others have said, this is not a Score Race.
We arrived one day ahead of the racers so we could watch them arrive at Loreto and again as they passed by Los Barriles. Have fun and watch the race
if you have the time.
