The only thing TOYOTA about the truck is the nameplate.

Well, I asked ... and yes, you are correct.

"Unfortunately, it's very true. Underneath is custom tube frame, a Chevy LS engine/Trans. Pretty standard fare for trophy trucks these days. Even the Mc Millan team that runs "fords" are Chevy LS powered.

Much of that is dictated by SCORE/BITD rules for the "unlimited" class."

The SCORE rule book I have is for 2006 to 2010. Unless they have changed the rules CR23 under Trophy Trucks says, "The engine must be of the same manufacturer as represented by the body."

Currently, (in Trophy Trucks) it is hard to tell the difference between manufacturers.

That is true Udo but I think if you put a bowtie on the front it should have a chevy engine and if it has a Toyota or Ford emblem it should have their respective engine.

Usually you can tell the manufacture from the grill work and headlight layout or you use to.

A buddy of mine is a Toyota engineer and has worked in the Toyota racing scene, mostly at the pits. Info came from him. Here is a pic of BJ with my buddy's daughter.

TT motors are all very similar with the valve cover being the most distinctive feature. All the important parts are not production parts, but are race specific. Parts used feature maximizing the reliability and power. Lots of ingenious ways to do that, none of which are used in the production motors.
For sure the motor builder does not start with a production motor. And the Chevy TT versions have no similarity to a production LS version.

well one thing is clear, there's a ton of excitement and anticipation for what this factory effort will bring to the table, hopefully other factories will follow suit and fund some offroad programs! :bounce:
