Toyo Tires in Baja 500

I was looking at the entry list and there are 8 entries out of 30 in the Trophy Truck class using Toyo tires. Several are top name drivers. Looks like they are giving BFG a run for their money. It wasn't long ago that Robby Gordon was the first to use them in that class if I remember right.

The Generals are taking some of BFG's rides too. I think it might be sponsorship over anything else. If a tire is good enough to get you to the end and they are cheaper, why not?

Mag7 is offering free pit service to all Toyo customers both 500 and 1000 this season.

COPS Racing has made the switch to Toyo. We'll be at the B500.

I switched to Toyo a few years back and am happy with the MT's. They are heavy as hell but I don't have to worry about them blowing out on me. (Well, I still worry and carry repair kit, compressor and spares). I would run the AT2's on a street truck any day!

Not to mention...BFG has been skimping on their sizes with the introduction of the KM2. They are not true to size and that peees me off a little bit as a consumer. Heard the KM3 is coming out sometime in 2017. Should be interesting if they actually make it true to size.

In that pre-Google Earth and social media epoch, The Code was adhered to. It was based on a simple verity: if a locale had been transformational for you, and you had put the hard yards in to get there and to learn it, to know it, why in gods name would you broadcast the news, thus ruining the future experience not only for yourself, but for future adventurers?

Toyo A/T's

I run Toyo Open Country A/T's on both of my trucks (2006 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 and a Dodge Ram 2500 Double Cab diesel). Great tires, no performance issues and great wear. Both trucks spend 6 months in Baja.....dealing with the potholes in Ensenada and on Hwy 1. No problems

Its not about the best tire. Its all about sponsorship. We will probably switch from Toyo to BF Goodrich because of free pit support.

I think that's exactly true. And because race programs change, there seems to be a migration from BFG to Toyo among race teams. What you said: nobody provides better pit support than BFG.
