East Cape - Magic Jack

It is exciting to finally have something to talk about besides the gorgeous weather that has persisted for more than 2 months and tough fishing.

Just when I was starting to think we were going to struggle all year the Sea of Cortez came alive. At the beginning of the week dorado, marlin and wahoo were bending rods. As the week progressed the action started to diminish.

The moon was getting bright and many thought it was shutting off the bite. Then Magic Jack, aka "Mr. Lucky" or Jackurate as many know him showed up and gamefish came to the party. It has been constant action since he rolled into town.

Accurate's new Valiant 300 has been so popular I haven't been able to get my hands on them for our boats. This little reel only weighs 9 ounces and packs a punch. Magic Jack handed me one and the first words out of my mouth were striped marlin. I know Accurate didn't have marlin in mind when designing this little reel but OMG it is so much fun. Before lunch we were releasing a striper baited with the Valiant. If you are looking for a challenge and want to have a some fun this is it.

Great pictures as usual, thanks. I ordered a Valliant reel today, impressive little reel.
