Huaraches in San Diego?
I've always wanted a pair of the ranch shoes with the sole made from a used tire that are locally made in Baja that the rancheros wear. Does anyone
know of a store in San Diego that sells them? I found them on ebay, but I would want to try them on before I bought them.

Maybe try Old Town. Haven't been there in ages so don't know. Go there for some Mex food and check out the stores.

I recall when i was elementary school kid i bought tire tread sandals in rosarito in the 1970s.
I dont think they sell today as well as in the 1970s.
Perhaps a cobbler could make you a bespoke pair of shoes?
What tread are you going to use, bfg a/t or hankook? more importantly, what tire pressure do you run in your shoes?

I ordered the pair I found on ebay, they look like the pair that SFandH pictured above. I'll let you know if they are any good.

They stretch rather quickly so get them a bit too small and they'll quickly conform to your feet.
Go to Old Town in San Diego or Olvera Street in Los Angeles. You'll probably find them there and you'll have a fun outing ta-boot (pun intended)
