Paperwork for boat

Sorry a question probably discussed ad nauseam but I'm too lazy to do all that searching and you all need the extra posts anway - what sort of paperwork do I need to bring a power boat and motor on a trailer South through Tecate - obviously the trailer registration but what about the boat itself? thanks a lot

registration for the boat. They might require a temp import permit, just depends on the guys you get. obviously, all of the registration needs to be in the name of someone in your crew.

I just had to get a TIP for a small (15') boat, trailer and outboard motor, crossing at Tecate.
They need a copies of your passport, trailer & boat registration, and the serial number of the outboard motor. The fee for the TIP was $59.16 US.
The TIP is valid for 10 years.

Off a bit, but does one need a TIP to use a kayak for fishing?
I suppose yes in the strictest of terms, but I believe kayaks
are exempt from a tip, but unsure if a fishing rod is aboard

Thanks for the link! The English version says that the boat "must be 4.5 meters (14.7 ft)". Does that mean a permit is not required for my 13.5 foot boat (out board removed)?

It has a wide beam, and high freeboard, so it looks bigger and might raise questions.

You will need proof of registration when you cross the border and that should have the length on it.

they waved me thru Otay 6 weeks ago pulling a 15'1" Gregor w/out motor, w/out TIP, so there's that! They just wanted to see regi's.

You don't need the TIP.
