Heading from Toronto, Canada to San Diego to Cabo San Lucas - Oct 3 to Oct 28

A friend and I are riding from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Cabo San Lucas and back from Oct 3 to
Oct 28. Anyone interested in joining, shoot me a message. Either join for some of the ride or all.

We are planning to ride long days from Toronto to the Grand Canyon. Hike the canyon. Casually ride to Cabo. Spend a few days riding, surfing and shooting tequila. Then on route back, ride Hwy 1. Maybe hang out a few days in California, depending on how much time we have.

I have a lot of experience on the road. I've been through a lot of North America: Toronto to Alaska to Newfoundland, the Florida Keys and Guadalajara, Mexico.

If you are joining I ask that you do your regular maintenance. If it's an old bike make sure the tank is clean and the reserve works, and that you carry extra spark plugs and points. I'm a good mechanic but I'd prefer not to spend days waiting for parts since we are limited on time to make this run.

We will be camping in the warmer climate and finding cheap hotels for the cold rainy days. We will likely be riding through rain so you will need rain gear and cold weather gear for the norther portion of the ride. Spanish speaking would be an asset (I know only a few words).

I've never ridden through Baja but heard it's an amazing ride. We are open to any and all riders and types of bikes. Hope to see you on the road.

This sounds like a great ride! I just got back two days ago from a 4,500 mile round trip ride up to Banff, Alberta from San Diego County on my Burgman 650. We saw wonderful things! I would have loved to join you on the Baja stretch of your journey, but can't get away after 18 days gone.

You will love the ride down Baja. I've done it too many times on four wheels and would like to do the ride on two to see it all from a different (better) perspective.

BTW, my little Burgman performed flawlessly. Just add gas. Very comfortable rain or shine.

Have a great trip!

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

That ride sounds sick! What route did you take? What did you think of the Rocky Mountains? Did you get to check out Jasper?
I think Hwy 93 is one of the nicest rides in North America, up there with the Cabot trail in NS, Hwy 1 along Cali and the Black Hills in South Dakota.

How is the land down in Baja? Is it mostly sand or is it hard packed? Think you can ride off road to the shore and camp by the ocean or will the bike get stuck in the sand?

Road King,

Originally am from Alberta (lived in Banff and Jasper) but moved to Arizona about 20 years ago. Am riding from Yuma, AZ to La Paz Oct 16-29 on an '16 Road Glide Ultra. Am 52, in great health. Did this trip earlier this year in April, can't wait to do it again. Everyone else who was gonna ride cancelled this week. Be crossing into TJ Oct 16 around noon, then staying in places like San Quintin, Bahia de los Angeles, Puerto San Carlos, Loreto (my favorite), La Paz. I kinda wanna ride/explore mostly myself this time, but I don't mind meeting and riding with others occasionally.

Hwy 1 is paved all the way from TJ to Cabo, only bad place is about 150 miles north of Guerrero Negro, lots of wicked potholes. Occasionally you may run into some hard-packed construction detours, nothing over a mile long when I did it a few months ago, had no problem riding em with my Harley. For camping I highly recommend Bahia de Concepcion (gorgeous scenery), and my favorite town was Loreto.

Sounds like you may be heading north in Baja when I'll be heading south. What are you guys riding? If you wanna meet/ride let me know.

Have an awesome and safe trip!

I'm riding a 2007 Road King 103 and my bud is riding a 2014 Yamaha Bolt. I'm 32 and he is 33. Both from Toronto.

Yeah, we would be down for meeting up and riding south together. The more experience the better. Hopefully, our timelines match. Shoot me an email and when I get close to Arizona I'll send you a message.
