NOW I KNOW...

I have had difficulties in seeing videos on Nomads. I just saw the menu button at the top of the Nomad board (just below the Today's Posts).
It says "CLICK TO USE FLASH" :light:

Also, check your browser setup.

On my PC I set it up NOT to play any videos in browser. - got tired of commercials and other stupid videos that start playing automatically. Everybody and his dog seems to put some video on his webpage these days. So, it displays a button "click to activate Flash".

Udo,
That's going to be on heck of a paddle.... :O :

" Isla Todos Santos is a pair of islands about 19.3 km (12.0 mi) off Ensenada, Baja California, at 31°47′59″N 116°47′20″WCoordinates: 31°47′59″N 116°47′20″W best known for surfing. Access is only by boat, which can be rented in Ensenada, or La Bufadora.[1] The waves off the smallest island are among the biggest in North America. There are no facilities on the islands except for two lighthouses. "

His craft has a sail, but perhaps he should give it a bit more thought.

Hobie TI (I think they call it Mirage TI) does have a sail. 90 sq ft, unstayed loose-ftooted as I recall. Not the best performing shape. They could make those 19 km in 2 hours if they get lucky - or they could have to paddle all day. Paddling-pedaling a craft like that I wouldn't want, not for 19 kms and/or in unfavorable wind and current conditions.

Now they know :)

I did this paddle many years ago. Had perfect ocean conditions - flat and glassy - started from La Bufadora. There's a little cove you pull into at the southern tip, a pebble beach, and v. short climb to a plateau to camp. Fishing should be decent in the cove. A sea lion came into the cove and entertained us. There is evidence of indigenous habitation from hundreds of years ago, and hundreds of birds that squawk all day. On the return paddle, we wanted to catch the following sea, but not so as to take us away from our end point, so we paddled north a bit first - in the fog - very disorienting - and heard the waves crashing to the west of us. Scared me, but soon were far enough away that that wasn't a concern. Bon voyage.

Thanks for the advice from every one.

If we have some wind, the sail to the island is about 2+ hours. We have a Lowrance HDS6 (chart plotter/gps/speed/temp/depth sonar/fish finder). We also have a portable VHF radio.

Just in case we both get tired of paddling and pedaling we also have a TORQEEDO electric motor that replaces one of the pedals. Good for about 10 miles at 6 mph.

Our next trip will be to the blow hole.

Maybe wait for another day. The wind is blowin' about 15mph from the north right now.

BTW...today was the day we were going out, but the wind forecast was a blow-out, as DENNIS said.
