Driving South Nov 20th
We are planning to drive south from San Diego to Loreto starting on Sunday Nov 20th.
I know the race starts on Friday the 18th.....
We are planning to drive from San Diego to the south part of San Quintin on Sunday which I know will have some regular Sunday traffic.
My 1st question is how much race traffic do you think we'll encounter in Ensenada and south to San Quintin, will it be horrible?
My 2nd question is leaving from San Quintin on Monday the 21st will we see much more race traffic heading south?
I can't tell from the maps I have how far south the race will go in relation to hwy 1.
Where exactly will the race use hwy 1 or cross over hwy 1?

I'd avoid Mex 1 that weekend, if you can. Good suggestions here:

Monday the 21st Revolution Day is celebrated. That usually means parades down the main street which is often Hwy 1. In the past I have spent 2-3
hours waiting in El Rosario for the parade to finish. Be advised, maybe some local Nomads can provide this year's plans.

Sunday is the awards day. Ensenada will still have traffic but not as bad. Only traffic on 1 are stragglers picking up broken vehicles. The race
goes as far south as El Rosario.
The holiday on Monday was already mention If you were to get through El ROsario Early in the morning before the parade you might be OK.

What time do you think the parade will start in El Rosario?
When will 1 be shut down?

The parade will start right before you get there. Isn't that how things go?

Even if there is a posted start time for the parade it will actually start from one to three hours after that time. It'll be a crapshoot. If you get
caught up in it, relax and enjoy the parade. And work up a plan B for stopping that night earlier than where you thought you were going to get to.

There is also a parade in Catavina, with no way around it, but it is small. 15 minute delay if you happen to be there at the right time.
One year I hit Catavina, El Rosario, and San Quintin all at the "right" time.
