ODD SYMBOLS NOW for Spanish letters á é í ó ú ñ ü on existing(older) posts that were't there before?

Please provide a solution for the ASC codes for foreign letters and other symbols in our existing threads that have been changed to little black diamonds with question marks in them.

á é í ó ú ñ ü ° Á É ¿ ¡ Ü

If you have a Mac, those symbols are included in the keyboard by holding down the character key. The options will then appear.

Other than that, you may go to the website: http://www.academic.evergreen.edu/projects/biophysics/techno...

I have no problem posting them Udo, it is that the old posts with those letters are now showing them as error marks (a black diamond with a question mark in it. Just look at my first post in my new trip report.

I was alerting Doug so he could correct that.

Here that is:

I traveled most of the known roads to the beaches between Santa Rosala and Ensenada Blanca (below Loreto) and the rough roads between San Javier and Comond, on to La Pursima and back east to Hwy. 1.

I see the problem. I was not aware of that.

It's definitely a screw-up in the website configuration. All the non-ASCII characters are being converted to that "" character before being shown. Even copyright symbols on the main page are showing incorrectly. http://forums.bajanomad.com/

So I don't think the posts themselves are corrupted in the database, it is some higher-level website misconfiguration.

Well, this kind of thing happened last time Doug rebooted the site, as I recall. He can fix it (I hope).

Thank you, Doug.

I edited my first post in my trip report replacing the black diamonds with the Spanish accented letters. But, I imagine there is 15 years of other posts that need the fix?
