Northbound Dry Ice?

We are heading back north this weekend after a great several weeks on the Pacific side. We've got a couple of coolers which we are going to pack with various and sundry frozen seafoods, and however much mole we can buy at the Ensenada SuperLey deli counter.

The coolers should be full enough to make it to the border with the addition of just some regular block ice, but from there we'd like to make sure the seafood is frozen solid again to make it through the remaining couple days of travel. Nothing worse than thawed/refrozen mushy fish.

Any ideas on places to get dry ice just across the border in Chula Vista/National City/etc.? Ease of access off the freeway is important - we've got a boat in tow.

From I-5 north get off at Main St as your driving north past San Ysidro and go west, drive about one mile and on the south side of Main St. you'll find a Smart and Final

If you are on the 805, take the "H" Street exit (East). There is a Super Smart & Final in the shopping center just east of the 805

Funny, we stayed in Poway (wanted to get a little clear of the border zone) and found a Smart and Final just off of Poway Road next to an Einstein Bros bagels.

We bought about 8lbs of dry ice for each cooler, which did a great job of refreezing the contents. It didn't hurt that the outside air temps for most of our drive through NorCal and Oregon were in the 40s.

Do they check you at the store to see if you are going North or South?
