Quick day trip to Punta Abreojos
Les told me to get ready for a mini adventure - I was in the car and ready to go in 15 minutes!
Secret as to where we were going but the direction was Abreojos.
First stop was the beautiful malecon:
We saw this house for sale at 70 thousand dollars - the lady said it is a 3 bedroom home, right on the main drag and next to the restaurant there.
Did not go in and I know nothing more about it but such a primo location IMO:
Second stop was for breakfast with Tia Chula!
I loved the artwork on the wall! Tia Chula said an American gives it to her - 100% recycled material and way waaay cool:
and other art on the wall:
When and if you go, ask for huevos a la Miguel - kind of like huevos veracruzano, with veggies mixed in with the eggs.
De li cioso RICO darn good
It was so fun and after we rolled out of Tia Chula's, we visited Chelo and Dave who built a most gorgeous home in La Baliza. Great outing!
A photo of the great cook!

It is a pretty town. I sure wish we had a boardwalk here in La Bocana.

The artwork is made by Rodney, a cool dude!
https://www.rodrigosrecycledart.com/
In that pre-Google Earth and social media epoch, The Code was adhered to. It was based on a simple verity: if a locale had been transformational for
you, and you had put the hard yards in to get there and to learn it, to know it, why in gods name would you broadcast the news, thus ruining the
future experience not only for yourself, but for future adventurers?

Thanks for posting the link! I love his artwork and in the bio he says one of his favorite places to collect art trash are the basureros of Baja.
Gotta love that.

Wow, that looks so different than when I was there in August 1984. Just a dirt road in back then. Been a long time.

The changes that have taken place in the 11 years we have been here are quite big: for Abre and Bocana =
electricity came to us! used to be a cooperative generator for the town
water piped in all the way from Vizcaino now, used to be desal plant
we have a huge supermarket that we call the mini Costco
Pemex gas station in Punta Abreojos and takes credit cards too
road from highway 1 paved all the way to Abreojos (potholes included)
brand new middle school in La Bocana
fancy beach restaurant open 365 days a year in LB
we are definitely coming up in the world!

We just had some guests stay with us and they ate there every day! Jose is now the manager of the Cabañas restaurant and Bocana Adventures
(fishing, boating, kayaking) but his wife Chunky is cooking away.
Tia Chula in Abreojos is very good BTW, she has never disappointed us and we have been visiting her for years.
