How long before Flickr falls to this, I wonder?

I bet all the photo hosting sites are carefully watching what happens at Photobucket.

Lots of news stories:

So using the simple method of clicking on Img copy paste works without 3rd party issues
BTW, I did a quick scan of a bunch of threads an I see Ken and tom and several others pics are not view-able. I wonder if these guys use the simple method David and I have always used will work for them?

This whole Photobucket thing is crazy............

They want $399/year to keep my ability to post photos here.

I always hoped that my trip reports would be archived here for my kids to view in 20 years or 50 years.

Guess that won't happen now.

Did you have a free or pay account on Photobucket? Thye have yet to tell me they want anything more that the $34.99/year fee. Still working with Flickr, that may be the answer. You just have to find the hidden links... Once I get it dialed in, I will provide a how to, as I did for Photobucket.

The best move is to get off these photo hosting sites. Either upgrade the software for this site or move to the NOMAD facebook site.

You should just close out your PB. Very doubtful you have a single pic that anyone would give a crap about.

No it's an absolute terrible idea. A ton of ppl don't use FB. And it's not growing anymore. This gen of kids doesn't touch FB.

Attaching photos at high quality would take a ton of data and be a complete waste of time. A hosted photo can be shared on many sites.

I'm using the free version of PB. This is the email I received yesterday:

"WE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING
PHOTOBUCKET FOR 3RD PARTY HOSTING"

Then a link to paying $400.

So the story keeps going. Here is a copy of an email that a PB user on another forum got from PB. Helps me understand that what I was doing violated their new policy. It seems that the very light users like me are still not a target for PB??
_ _ _ _
WE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING
PHOTOBUCKET FOR 3RD PARTY HOSTING*

PLEASE UPGRADE TO A PLUS 500 PLAN.

Our Terms of Service does not allow 3rd party hosting with your current account level.
UPGRADE NOW

*What is 3rd Party Hosting?
Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.
Why Photobucket?
Photobucket is the global destination for linking and 3rd party hosting. In Photobucket’s 14-year history, the Company amassed over 100 million registered users, over 15 billion images stored, 2 million daily uploads and 10 billion photos accessed monthly.
Easy to Use – Upload a photo from any device and copy the embed code with one click to host a photo with no development or technical knowledge required
Competitive, fixed pricing Offers the only unlimited 3rd party hosting plan (Commercial and Personal Use)
Are my pictures still safe?
Yes! All your photos are still available by logging into your Photobucket Account. Photobucket has only restricted the ability to view your photos on 3rd party sites.
Can I download my Photos?
Absolutely, at any time. It is an easy four step process:
Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account
Step 2. Navigate to your library page
Step 3. View a photo and click the download button
Step 4. The picture will be saved to your computer
