Corned Beef And Cabbage


Bruce Leech's Corned Beef And Cabbage


Ingredients:

8 pounds corned beef
1 large Head of cabbage cut in 8 pieces
2 bunches garlic cloves, cut in half
2 large onions, sliced
2 carrots, sliced on bias
2 stalks celery, sliced on bias
2 tablespoons black pepper, whole
2 gallons water


Directions:

Place all ingredients into large stockpot. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Cook 40 minutes per pound, or until meat is tender.

You should call that "Corned Beef and Cabbage Surprise" -- surprise!! there's no cabbage in the recipe.

Do you really place the cabbage in at the beginning and cook it the full 5 hours? (40 min per lb times 8 lbs)?
