Exterior Wood Paint
Suggestion for brand and where to purchase best product in Mexico Norte. Exposure to heat and salt and sun. The paint will be used in Gonzaga. If
not in Mexico which one in the states?

I have been using a solid color Behr Wood Stain(Home Depot) . It doesn't crack or chip like paint. Really easy to restain when needed.
Maybe the Home Depot in Ensenada will have some.

I'll second Comex paints. I've only bought several quarts of their oil based paint and brushed it on. It's good paint. I had to thin it a bit so it
didn't sag on the verticle surfaces. I like their stores, they're all about paint.

Surface condition and preparation is as important as the product you are going to apply. Along that line of reasoning, I don't believe that the stain
that Russ mentioned is designed to go over a painted surface. What are you painting?

Go with the Behr solid color stain will last longer than enamel in the heat of Gonzaga, it will hold on top of old paint ,if perviously painted
surfaces as are glossy lightly sand. Two coats and it will last for years . I am a Painting Contractor for 25 years and have a house at Papas

TRIPLE DITTO. Make sure it states "25 years" warranty for exterior paint. Remember, you get what you pay for. Cheap is as cheap does.

take my word...nothing "lasts for years" down here...
the sun and dirt is brutal
figure 2-3 years
labor isn't that much to re-coat
paint is heavy...buy locally and don't haul it

susan,
if you are going to paint every 2 years, might as well use the cheap stuff. if you recoat every 2 years, just use old fashioned white wash.
Woke!

There is a local finish sold and distributed in the UTC area on Eastgate Mall called TWP. Total Wood Protection. It is by far the most durable
exterior finish product on the market that is still allowed to be sold in California. Thanks to all here.

Goat, B&S run a B&B and appearances are important so they have a reason to do more upkeep than a regular home owners. Also that may qualify
them as experts too. Your comment was offensive to me and it wasn't pointed at me so maybe you could take some time before posting. Unless, of course,
it was meant to be offensive then maybe you'd consider not posting at all.

I don't recall the OP clarifying whether it was a B&B or a regular home, hence - why not a whitewash. Though peeling would be less conspicuous on
light brown-ish colors than on whitewash. Might squeeze another year out of this, before it becomes really ugly. Probably same reason why they paint
corrugated metal in red or brown

White wash is actually a pretty good coating, cheap too.

I am amazed ???
Indicative, no questions marks required, unless you are questioning yourself.
Why not white wash ???
I had some answer in mind against whitewash, but hoped to hear confirmation - other than repeating the question.
why not use rabbit ears on your TV
Outdoor directional antennas are still common where there is no cable. Or when watching TV is so unimportant that paying for cable doesn't make
sense. There would've been more of them, but Baja terrain gets in the way in some areas. Though Baja OTA programming is a joke.
why not telegraph in stead of text
Apples to oranges. Emergency communication is one thing, daily contact is another. Some people are asking "why GPS mappers when there is Googlemaps".
There still exist places with no cell connection, - just about 50% of Baja.
use the better and longer lasting materials that available today
Yay... as long as the appearance vs cost vs pains of re-coating is to the owner's satisfaction...
