There's a CBX shuttle from downtown close to the trolley station. From the airport you can take the 992 bus to the America Plaza/Broadway trolley
station. If you're a senior, the bus costs $1.10. From their website: Cost is $10/pp for this shuttle
CBX ↔ Downtown San Diego* Operating every 2 hours from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Then on based on demand until 2:00 AM $10.00
* The downtown stop is the Santa Fe Train Station. Drops off at San Diego International Airport upon demand.

Uber is the fastest/easiest, although not the cheapest.
Living Large in Loreto. Off-grid and happy.

Lyft is typically a little cheaper and has better service (i.e. the app is better).
It best to pull up both and go with the one that is closest and cheapest.

I bet a regular cab divided between 4 would be reasonable too.

Not that much, it's about 30 miles, so about $90-100.
Lyft/Uber will be $35 to $45 for a normal car. With 4 ppl, likely need an Uber XL, so closer to $70. Plus the hassle of getting one at the airport.
LAX is a zoo to get an Uber at. SD is probably better.
If it was going from the CBX to the airport it would be a no brainer for Uber, as it's super easy to get one there. At the airport it's easier to
walk out and hop in a cab. That's really the only scenario I ever use a taxi these days.

so...
taxi for 4 people $100
bus and shuttle for 4 = $48
the bus and shuttle is a hassle for 4 people
maybe a taxi is the best choice...avoid conflict
