Driving to Canyon Guadalupe

I am very interested in doing a camping thing at this place but have been warned by several folks about driving in an area like this due to bandits and corrupt cops.
It doesn't seem it is that much of a drive from Mexicali south. Several years ago I actually made plans to go but could find no one who would go with me due to the above concerns and did not go.
Are these situations really a concern down there?

and they will steal you dog!

****bandits and corrupt cops****and they will steal you dog! Hell no...it is safer in most parts of Mexico than it is in Kalifornia! I recently went on tour to Baja for a week, with a Land Rover FULL of belongings. No problem. Till I got home to Sacramento; some coke head swiped my tackle box and tent...as my car laid in the driveway of my own home! It's safe there dude.

What control freaks there are here. Don\'t believe that post you just read!

We took $250,000.00 worth of Jeeps to G.C. and no problems!

We too $250K worth of Rubicon Jeeps down to Baja and every one returned safe and sound!

When our group returns to Baja April 1-3, just follow us to the turnoff to G.C. and we'll direct you to the last 30 mi. until you reach G.C.! Here are the details for our next run to Baja:

Let me know if this makes you feel more safe.
